Hyde & Co. Cafe @ North Bridge Road (PERMANENTLY CLOSED)
Hyde & Co. is an English-themed cafe at Kampong Glam which just opened three weeks ago in Singapore. It is located amidst a cosy enclave of cafes and bistros along North Bridge Road. Update: this cafe is permanently closed.
Ambience: Where Classic Meets Contemporary
We visited this quaint cafe on a late Saturday afternoon. The friendly staff was quick to escort us to our table.
Hyde & Co. has a classic character to it but it’s also contemporary and stylish. The whitewashed walls, warm lighting, and modern furnishings create a nice space for patrons to dine comfortably.
Overall, the café exudes a casual and convivial vibe which we simply adored.
Cinnamon Apple Chamomile Tea
All our food came quickly – thumbs up for prompt service!
Hyde & Co. has an extensive list of caffeinated and non-caffeinated tea for your selection. We were dazed by the multitude of choices! Click this link to see the tea menu, or scroll to the bottom of this article. The owner must really be a tea connoisseur.
Luckily, the friendly staff were extremely helpful and gave us various recommendations to help with our decision. We decided to order the Cinnamon Apple Chamomile ($6.50 per pot) tea.
We were not disappointed.
The tea was refreshingly fragrant, with the cinnamon apple aroma adding a sweet fruity scent to the chamomile flavour. Kudos to the staff who recommended us this tea!
Truffles Fries
Who doesn’t love truffle fries? And luckily, Hyde & Co. does not fail to deliver on this item at all.
The Truffle Fries ($10) were savoury but not overly salty, and made for a perfect side dish. If you like your fries to be thick, you will enjoy Hyde & Co.’s fries even more because they are thick-cut.
Fusilli Carbonara
Our main course for the night was the Fusilli Carbonara ($8.90). The perfectly cooked al dente pasta tasted great with the chewy mushrooms. The cream base was rich but not overwhelming, with the taste punctuated by savoury and crunchy bacon bits. On the whole, this was an extremely satisfying dish.
Lemon Curd & Cream Crumpets
Last but not least, we had the Lemon Curd & Cream ($7.90) crumpets for desserts. “Crumpets” are basically thick fluffy pancakes served with a spread of butter or alternative spreads.
Hyde & Co.’s artisan crumpets were delicious.
The crumpets were spongy, soft, warm and glazed with sweet condensed milk. The luscious lemon curd (a dessert spread made from cream and lemon) topping complimented the crumpets perfectly and had just the right touch of sweetness.
Hyde and Co. – Hidden Gem along North Bridge Road
Sporty employee smiling for the camera – Hyde & Co. has friendly and helpful staff!
We had a fantastic time here. Service was impeccable – from the moment we entered the cafe, we were treated with wonderful hospitality by the enthusiastic and sincere staff.
Located just ten minutes away from Bugis Junction by walking, Hyde and Co. is an accessible venue that provides a nice balance between convenience and lifestyle.
It was hard to believe that today was the first day that Hyde & Co. was serving its dinner menu. We did not have any problems with our orders at all and the staff were all professional and prompt in their service. The only minor gaffe was that one of the staff wrongly served an additional item to our table.
But that was just a minor incident which did not affect our wonderful experience at all.
With its extensive tea selection, tantalizing English desserts, delicious dinner menu, friendly staff and convivial ambience, this cafe is simply too good to miss out on. Do check out this cafe before it gets overcrowded with cafe lovers!
Oh, and there is no service charge at Hyde & Co. 🙂
