Nunsaram Korean Dessert Cafe @ Orchard Central Singapore
Bingsu fans, rejoice! Nunsaram Korean Dessert Cafe, a cafe that serves authentic Korean bingsu, is now officially open at Orchard Central. ‘Bingsu’ is a traditional Korean dessert that consists of shaved ice with sweet toppings, akin to Singapore’s ice kachang. It is helmed by the same entrepreneur who owns K Cook, a Korean BBQ joint that has had considerable success since its opening last year. South Korean culture definitely has a strong presence in Singapore – from K-pop to K-drama to Running Man to Korean BBQ to Korean fried chicken, and now, Korean desserts!

Homely and Comfortable Vibe
Nunsaram Korean Dessert Cafe is located on the 5th floor of Orchard Central. It is a no-frills joint with simple wooden furnishings, giving the cafe a homely and comfortable vibe.
Warm and Friendly Service by Korean Staff
I was duly impressed by the great service at Nunsaram, despite the cafe being newly open. The staff (made up of mainly Korean girls) were all warm and friendly, and our orders came quickly.
Normally, one bingsu serves two persons but being the gluttons we are, the two of us actually ordered 2 Bingsus, 1 Garlic Cheese Bread, and 1 Spicy Tteogkkochi!
Green Tea Bingsu
First, I tried the Green Tea Bingsu ($13.90). I poured the sweetened milk over the dessert and scooped a spoonful of the sinful goodness into my gaping mouth.
It was delicious!
The luxurious smoothness of the fluffy ‘snowflakes’ ice shaving and sweet taste of the green tea ice-cream and red bean paste was punctuated by the crunch of lightly musky almond flakes. The delicate sweetness of the sweetened milk completed the experience.
Next up, Nunsaram’s Strawberry Bingsu!
Strawberry Bingsu
The Strawberry Bingsu ($15.90) looked so tantalizing that we couldn’t wait to start eating it. This was definitely a different experience from the Green Tea Bingsu. The impression was one of delicate balance, with the sweet flavours of the vanilla ice-cream and sweetened milk coming together nicely with the piquant flavour of the strawberries to produce a harmonious blend of sweet and sour.
It’s hard to pick a winner between the two, but if I had to choose my favourite it would have to be the Strawberry Bingsu!
Garlic Cheese Bread and Spicy Tteogkkochi
Garlic Cheese Bread ($7.90)
Spicy Tteogkkochi ($4.90)
Nunsaram also serves a small variety of other eats. We ordered the Garlic Cheese Bread ($7.90) and Spicy Tteogkkochi ($4.90) to share. These tasted decent but the bingsus were still definitely our favourites!
Conclusion: Delicious and Authentic Korean Bingsu
I left the cafe as a happy man patting my round tummy. My craving for bingsus since returning from Seoul had finally been satisfied!
Nunsaram’s bingsus leave you wanting more with its luxurious ‘snowflakes’ ice shavings and delicious toppings, complete with delicate sweetened milk. And following in the footsteps of its Korean BBQ joint, the prices are very affordable too. If you are a fan of Korean Bingsu, you must definitely check out Nunsaram Korean Dessert Cafe at Orchard Central.
