12 Chairs Cafe – Delicious Fusion European / Middle Eastern Food in New York City
12 Chairs was probably one of the nicest cafes we visited in New York City. This cafe serves delicious fusion Middle Eastern / European dishes. We simply loved the casual and comfortable vibe here, and service was wonderful too! Also read: 12 Best Places to Eat in Manhattan, New York City!
Awesome Ambience and Great Service
Entering the cafe, we were impressed by the pretty interior design. Classic photographs of New York City line the walls, which customers can view while dining on the quaint wooden furnishings. On the opposite side was a vintage brick wall with shelves of neatly lined bottles. The staff here were all very warm and friendly. Our orders came very quickly too.
French Toast with Eggs and Bacon
We ordered the French Toast ($11), made from challah bread (a type of Jewish bread). It came with plenty of pretty-looking fresh fruits. Being gluttons, we added eggs ($4.50) and bacon ($3) too. The french toast tasted delicious with its savoury-sweet flavours of cinnamon and egg, combined with the scent of warmly toasted challah bread. And of course we had to pour the luscious maple syrup over the french toast, giving it a wonderfully sweet taste. The refreshing fruits provided a balance to the savoury meal. The tasty sunny-side up eggs and crispy bacon completed our very satisfying meal.
Conclusion
With its wonderful ambience, great service, and delicious food, it is no wonder that 12 Chairs is one of the most popular cafes in New York City. We miss it already and will definitely visit it again the next time we go back to the Big Apple.
Directions: The cafe is a four-minute walk from Houston Street Station.
