The Bank Bar and Bistro – Stately Restaurant along Shenton Way! (PERMANENTLY CLOSED)
It was a sunny Saturday afternoon and we were on our way to check out The Bank Bar + Bistro along Shenton Way. The restaurant offers a variety of international and western dishes and it has a very extensive alcohol menu too. It recently launched its brand new menu and we were eager to check out the new dishes! The Bank Bar and Bistro has closed down.
Great Service in a Stately Restaurant
The restaurant exudes a stately charm with its classy wooden furnishings, dark leather chairs and beautiful parquet flooring. Service was great: our dishes were served quickly, and there was always a staff standing around to refill our water or clear our plates. The Bank Bar + Bistro is also a family-friendly restaurant. It has a children play area in the restaurant so that parents can enjoy their meals while their children have fun.
House Salad
We started our meal with the House Salad ($6.50 with any main dish, comes with a non-alcoholic drink). This simple dish comprised of lettuce, cherry tomatoes, edamame and quinoa covered with sesame dressing. I loved the taste of the edamame and quinoa, but my favourite was the fresh juicy cherry tomatoes. This was the perfect starter for our main dishes!
Forest Truffle Mushroom Soup
Next, we indulged in the Forest Truffle Mushroom Soup ($7) which came with two brioche toasts. As the dish was served, we could smell the alluring aroma of truffles emanating from the steaming soup. I eagerly scooped a spoonful of the velvety soup into my mouth, and it tasted awesome! I simply adored the savoury soup with chunks of tender mushroom inside. I believe the chef also added in small bits of pumpkin to add color and flavor. The subtle but unmistakable aftertaste of truffles served to enhance the taste, making this a delicious soup which I couldn’t get enough of. And of course, there were the savoury brioche toasts, which were crisp and crunchy to the bite. I dipped the bread in the soup and it tasted wonderful!
TheBank Fish & Chips
My main course was the TheBank Fish & Chips ($22). Fish and chips is a favourite staple of mine, and I was hoping The Bank Bar + Bistro would not disappoint. Luckily, this dish passed muster. The batter was crispy and not too greasy, making it a nice compliment for the tender white fish meat beneath. This simple dish came together nicely and I enjoyed it.
Oriental Seabass Pasta
Raevian went with the Oriental Seabass Pasta ($20), which comprised of pasta with soybean glazed sea bass, garlic, onions, chives and spicy XO sauce. Sounds rich and flavourful? Yes it was indeed! Let me start with the sea bass. This was cooked perfectly and had a wonderfully smooth texture. It was glazed with a coat of soybean paste, which gave the fish a sweet earthy flavour. Next, on to the pasta, which we loved! The spaghetti was doused in a red sauce that consisted of garlic, onions and chives. I would say that this amazing sauce was the highlight of the dish. It had a very enticing savoury flavour that went so well with the spaghetti. On the whole, this rich and colorful dish was a combination of varied flavours that came together perfectly.
Awesome Promotions For a Short Period!
For an introductory period, guests will be able to enjoy selected new menu items (main course, pasta, sandwich and salad) with The Bank Bar’s one-for-one dinner promotion from Saturday to Tuesday (including public holidays) from 5pm to 9.30pm!
And alcohol lovers like me will be happy to know that The Bank Bar is also running a promotion on Tiger/Heineken/House Wine/ House Spirits at just $8.90 each.
Conclusion
This was my first time dining at The Bank Bar + Bistro, and it will definitely not be my last! The restaurant has a very nice ambience and offers great service. This popular joint in the CBD is usually very packed on weekdays, so make sure you make reservations before going down! We went on a Saturday afternoon, so it was relatively quiet. We especially enjoyed the Oriental Seabass Pasta, but I saw many other enticing items on the menu as well, such as the BBQ Baby Back Pork Ribs, Miso Salmon Salad, BBQ US Black Angus Ribeye, Australian Lamb Rack, BBQ Pulled Pork Burger, and more! Check out The Bank Bar menu here. Make sure you go down soon so that you can enjoy the one-for-one main course promotion and the beverage promotion before they end!
This was an invited media tasting.
