Fresh Fruits Lab (FFL) – Lovely Family Friendly Cafe in Changi, Serves Delicious Brunch Items

It’s not often that I travel all the way down to the far east of Singapore, but my trip to Fresh Fruits Lab in Changi was definitely worth it. I had a great brunch at this pretty cafe that offers a unique fruits-themed menu.

Fresh Fruits Lab

Founded in 2013, Fresh Fruits Lab is a family-friendly cafe that incorporates fresh fruits into many of their dishes.

Looking through the menu, I saw a variety of pastas, burgers, salads, desserts and brunch items. And keeping in line with their theme, the menu offers a range of fruit juices and fruity beers. There is a kids menu too.

Incidentally, the owners of Fresh Fruits Lab are also behind Platform 1094, a wizardry themed restaurant, and Elements, an online cake store.

Casual Atmosphere and Wonderful Service

I loved the whimsical decor of Fresh Fruits Lab. The cafe is decorated with pretty pastel-coloured furnishings, and the colourful and fun graffiti wall art brings the whole look together.

The glass walls allow for plenty of natural light to flood the cafe, giving it a bright and cheery vibe. The cafe is family-friendly too, with a cozy play area in the corner and baby chairs available.

I enjoyed wonderful service here. Upon being seated, we were served with complimentary cold juices served in test tubes. Wow, the last time I saw a test tube was way back in secondary school chemistry class, when I was praying for some “effervescence” in my concoction so I could note it down and get a mark.

I digress.

The complimentary juices were sweet and delicious, perfect for starting the meal. The staff were all very attentive and friendly, making our meal here even more enjoyable.

Messy Breakfast

Our first dish was the Messy Breakfast ($17), a brunch item that consisted of truffle scrambled eggs, toasted muffin, roasted sweet potatoes, tomato, bacon-wrapped pineapples, oxford sausages, and served with a fruit salad, of course.

Man, this was one sumptuous dish! I spooned a heap of scrambled eggs, sausage, and muffin into my mouth for a wonderful combination of delicious flavours.

After swallowing down that first mouthful, I proceeded to eat the bacon-wrapped pineapples, which was a delight with the juicy savoury bacon and the tangy flavour of the pineapple.

I loved the sweet potatoes too because, well, who doesn’t love roasted sweet potatoes?

And finally, the refreshing fruit salad provided a nice balance to the rich flavours. I enjoyed this dish very much.

Bangers and Mash

The wife ordered Bangers and Mash ($14), a simple dish of mashed potatoes served with oxford sausages and doused with savoury grape-infused sauce.

The luscious mashed potatoes had a great smooth texture and went nicely with the sweet-savoury sauce.

The oxford sausage (made from pork and veal) were juicy and tender. This was definitely a nice dish too, but we both agreed that the Messy Breakfast was more delicious!

Conclusion

On the whole, I enjoyed my meal at Fresh Fruits Lab very much. I was happy to visit this cafe in faraway Changi to take a break from the chaos of hectic city life. The cozy and casual atmosphere here set diners at ease, making it the perfect place to spend quality time with your family, children, or friends.
