We have good memories of il Matto, an upscale Italian restaurant in Old Quebec. This is because it was where we had our very first meal as an engaged couple, after I proposed to Raevian a few hours ago. And of course, the ambience and food here was awesome too. il Matto is a classy Italian restaurant that serves Italian-style comfort food. It is located within Hotel 71, a trendy boutique hotel. We really liked the restaurant’s ambience: think of it as a space where tradition meets contemporary style, where authentic Italian food are savoured in a classy but relaxed setting. Service was decent as well.

Fried Calamari

For our starter, we ordered the Fried Calamari ($10). This was a good dish to start our meal. The calamari was served to us hot. We enjoyed eating the crispy and savoury fried skin, which covered the succulent white meat beneath.

Linguine with Seafood

For our main, we shared the Linguine with Seafood ($25). The linguine was perfectly al dente. It went nicely with the luscious sauce, which had a good balance of savoury and tangy flavours. The seafood was very fresh too, and I especially enjoyed the prawns which were tender and juicy.

Conclusion

il Matto exudes an elegant but unpretentious vibe with its classy furnishings and interior design. It is the perfect place for both a nice dinner with your partner or for a gathering with good friends.
