Kimpton George Hotel – Great Boutique Hotel in Washington DC (USA)

During our short holiday in Washington DC, we stayed at Kimpton George Hotel, a contemporary boutique hotel that offers stylish modern rooms at great prices. It is located in a fantastic location, close to all the major attractions in DC. This is our detailed review of the hotel.

Kimpton George Hotel

Kimpton George Hotel is a boutique hotel located in Washington DC. It is located in a prime location with many of the main DC attractions within walking distance. The other reason we chose this hotel was because we really liked the contemporary and stylish designs of the rooms. The hotel even has a daily wine hour every evening from 5pm to 6pm. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to enjoy this perk as we were out exploring Washington the whole day. Pet-lovers will be happy to know that the hotel is pet-friendly. The hotel’s chic restaurant Bistro Bis serves French cuisine, and you can arrange for private or in-room dining too.

I happily discovered that the hotel has a 24 hour fitness centre, so I could squeeze in a bit of exercise after returning late to the hotel. The gym is decently equipped with a variety of weights machines, free weights, cardio machines, and exercise accessories.

Contemporary and Super Comfortable Room

As we stepped into our Deluxe King Room with Sleeper Sofa, we were impressed by its beautiful contemporary design. The room exudes a stylish vibe with its elegant upholstered headboard and two whimsical bed lamps, complete with classy calligraphy on a wall painted in earthy tones. The sleeper sofa was the perfect place to plonk down and relax. And of course, it felt really good to return after a long day of sightseeing and crash on the plush king size mattress!

The room also has a pretty marble shower and bathtub. Unfortunately, we realised that the toilet bowl was choked even before we started using it. Some of the (clear) water even spilled onto the toilet floor when we flushed. We called the hotel service staff to inform them of this before leaving to sightsee. This was fixed by the time we returned to the hotel at night.

Notwithstanding the above single unpleasant incident, the room was still extremely comfortable and to our expectations.

Fantastic Location

Kimpton George Hotel is located in the National Mall area, which means that it is just a stone’s throw away from major Washington DC attractions like the White House, US Capitol, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, etc. This was one of the main reasons why we chose this hotel.

Good Service

We didn’t really have much contact with the hotel staff as we were out most of the day. However, the front desk staff was quite friendly during check in and when we asked her for directions. And the hotel staff helped to fix and clean up our choked toilet bowl without any fuss.

Conclusion

On the whole, we enjoyed our stay at Kimpton George Hotel. Despite its perfect location and comfortable modern rooms, the hotel price is surprisingly affordable. I would highly recommend this great value-for-money boutique hotel for anyone visiting Washington DC.
