Toyosu Fish Market (formerly Tsukiji Market) – 12 Best Restaurants from Sushi to Unagi to Tempura!

This is a list of 12 best restaurants at Toyosu Fish Market! When the market relocated from Tsukiji in October this year, many of the original restaurants moved with the market too. Therefore, you can still find much of the original delicious food here. Even though many of the restaurants sell sushi, there is also a variety of other food such as Kaisen-don, Curry Rice, Tonkatsu, etc. We have consolidated a list of the best restaurants below, categorised by their respective blocks. I have also included a restaurant map for each block to make it easier for you to locate the restaurant. Also read: How to Go Toyosu Market (formerly Tsukiji Fish Market)

– Block 5 (Fruit and Vegetable Market) –

1. Daiwa Sushi

Daiwa Sushi is a famous sushi restaurant known for its fresh and delicious sushi. The restaurant offers Omakase too. It is second in popularity only to Sushi Dai at Block 7.

If you want to make it for the first seating, you need to reach around 5am when the shop opens. When we went on a regular weekday at 10.30am, there was already a long queue of about 30 people waiting outside!

Opening Hours: 5.30am to 1.30pm (Closed on Sundays)

2. Tenfusa

Tenfusa is a small restaurant known for its delicious tempura. This cozy restaurant only seats about 8 people but if you go early before 9am, there is usually no need to queue. The most popular items are the anago (saltwater eel) and shrimp tempuras.

Opening Hours: 7am to 2pm (Closed on Sundays)

– Block 6 (Fish Intermediate Wholesale Market) –

3. Iso Sushi

Iso Sushi is a sushiya that has pretty good reviews on Tabelog. This cozy sushi restaurant can seat around 15 people. When we went at 8am, there were only 4 customers inside.

The two of us shared the Orijinal ISO Sushi set (3,000 Yen) which consisted of 11 pieces of sushi. It was a great experience to see the sushi chef preparing the food in front of us!

Even though I’m not a sushi expert, I can say that these were some of the freshest sushi I’ve ever had.

Opening Hours: 4am to 4pm (Closed on Sundays)

4. Sho Sushi

Sho Sushi is a popular sushiya that some people have said is underrated. It offers delicious sushi, a cozy ambience, friendly service, and minimal queueing time.

Opening Hours: 6am to 2pm (Closed on Wednesdays and Sundays)

5. Sushi Dai

Sushi Dai needs no introduction. This crazily popular sushiya has people queueing daily for hours every day! Another than the fact that it can only seat 10 people, the reason for the long queue is because many people swear by their super fresh and delicious sushi.

If you plan to check out this restaurant, the common advice is to start queueing from around 3am so that you can make it for the first or second seating (unless you don’t mind waiting for at least four hours for the later seatings).

Opening Hours: 5am to 2pm (Closed on Sundays)

6. Odayasu

Founded in 1935, Odayasu is a venerable restaurant known for its delicious tonkatsu and deep fried oysters, which are especially loved by regulars. Another recommended dish is the chashu and egg set, which was invented based on suggestions from the shop’s regular customers.

Opening Hours: 4am to 1pm (Closed on Sundays)

7. Oedo

Oedo offers delicious kaisen-don, which is a Japanese rice bowl that comprises sushi rice with fresh seafood and fish toppings. This is a tourist-friendly establishment with many English-speaking staff. The recommended dish is the don (rice) with uni (sea urchin), salmon roe and tuna.

Opening Hours: 4.30am to 2.30pm (Closed on Sundays)

8. Nakaei

Nakaei is a Japanese Curry Rice restaurant with many good reviews on Tabelog. It offers three types of curry: karakuchi (spicy Indian curry), amakuchi (sweet beef curry), and tomato fumi (tomato based curry).

Opening Hours: 5am to 2pm (Closed on Sundays)

9. Toritoh

Toritoh is a popular restaurant that sells the iconic Oyakodon (literally “parent and child rice bowl”). This sumptuous dish is basically a soupy mixture of soft scrambled eggs and chicken served on top of rice with soy sauce and stock. This is a local delicacy that is popular with many Japanese.

Opening Hours: 7.30am to 2pm (Closed on Sundays)

10. Yonehana

Based on our research, Yonehana is the only restaurant in Toyosu Fish Market that sells unagi (freshwater eel). The menu offers just two items: the Unajyu (Eel box) and the Toridon (Chicken box).

Opening Hours: 7am to 12pm (Closed on Sundays)

11. Yoshinoya

Yes, this Yoshinoya shop is part of the well-known Japanese fast food chain that sells beef rice bowls. But it is also a very special outlet: originally located at Tsukiji Market, this was the franchise’s very first branch!

Opening Hours: Daily 24 Hours

– Block 7 (Fish Wholesale Market) –

12. Yachiyo

Yachiyo is a very popular restaurant known for its delicious tonkatsu and other deep fried food. It also sells the popular “Chashu Egg Teishoku”, a dish that comprises pork and sunny side up eggs. This dish is usually sold out by 8am. However, based on the reviews we read, their fried foods are the most delicious.

Opening Hours: 5am to 1pm (Closed on Sundays)
