Gram Cafe & Pancakes (Siam Paragon Bangkok) – Our Verdict Of These Famous Jiggly Pancakes From Japan
The wife and I got to try the famous jiggly pancakes from Gram Cafe & Pancakes in Siam Paragon when we were in Bangkok. We were quite happy because we didn’t manage to try these pancakes during our holiday in in Tokyo, due to the limited time slots and servings. This article was last updated on 11 October 2019.
Gram Cafe & Pancakes (Siam Paragon)
Gram Cafe & Pancakes is a pancake shop chain that was founded in Osaka, Japan in 2014.
It is famous for its Premium Pancake, which comprises a jiggly stack of three thick pancakes, served with whipped cream, maple syrup and butter.
The shop has plenty of branches across Japan. It has also expanded overseas to countries like Hong Kong, Thailand, America, and Singapore.
Currently, it has three branches in Bangkok. The Siam Paragon branch opened in August 2018, the branch located near Sam Sen BTS opened in December 2018, while the CentralWorld branch opened in June 2019.
We visited the Siam Paragon branch. Unlike the branch in Tokyo, this outlet does not have any specific time-slots or limited servings (20 per time slot) for the pancakes.
Menu
The most popular item here is of course the Premium Pancake (THB 295). Most customers (the wife and me included) ordered this item in the cafe.
The menu also offers other sweet pancakes like the Classic Pancakes, Tiramisu Pancakes, Caramelised Banana Pancakes, etc.
If you are looking for more savoury options, go for the Bacon and Scrambled Egg Pancakes, Chilli Beans Pancakes, or Salmon and Avocado Pancakes.
Drinks wise, there is a variety of coffee, tea, juices and smoothies.
The Siam Paragon outlet has a takeaway queue for customers to order a single piece of Premium Pancake for THB 75, or five pieces at THB 350.
Ambience and Service
The Gram Cafe outlet at Siam Paragon is an open-air space decorated with plenty of faux lush foliage and flowers. As you can tell from the picture above, even the tables are lined with artificial flowers.
Perhaps the greenery themed decor is inspired by Thailand’s tropical climate.
We visited the cafe at around 11.30am on a Thursday, and there wasn’t any queue. I was surprised because I had read reports that the queue can get really long.
Perhaps the hype had already died down by the time we visited in December 2018, four months after its opening.
Service was pretty good. Our pancakes arrived about 15 minutes after ordering, which was faster than I had expected. The staff were generally quite polite.
Premium Pancakes
Once our Premium Pancakes (THB 295) arrived, the wife and I quickly took many pictures of the Instagram-worthy jiggly pancakes.
The pancakes certainly lived up to expectations. They were light and fluffy, with a lovely silky texture and a rich eggy fragrance.
Eaten together with the luscious maple syrup and whipped cream, this was a very satisfying sweet treat.
However, compared to the Flippers pancakes we tried in Tokyo, I felt that the Gram cafe pancakes were not as fluffy.
Mango Smoothie
The wife and I also tried the Mango Smoothie (THB 135).
Even though it looked like a syrup drink slapped with whipped cream on top, it was actually quite a pleasant drink that wasn’t overly sweet. The whipped cream made it even more delicious.
It was nice to drink the cold smoothie in Bangkok’s hot weather.
Conclusion
Posing with giant pancakes
Now that it has almost been a year since Gram Cafe & Pancakes opened at Siam Bangkok, I think it is definitely worth checking it out since the queues are not as crazy anymore. The pancakes are delicious and will be worth your time.
