Like many tourists, one of my favourite activities in Bangkok is going for a relaxing massage. This city is renowned for its affordable and high-quality massages. Based on my own experiences, I have created a list of 8 great places for massage and spa in Bangkok below, categorised by budget. Sabai Sabai..

Budget

1. Number One Massage

Number One Massage is a famous street-side massage parlour in Pratunam that offers great massages at very affordable prices.

In fact, this is the place that introduced me to the world of Thai Massage many years ago. I like coming here for massages because the masseuses use a lot of strength in their rubs and are always able to accurately target the painful knots and tensions in my muscles.

The massages come with a free “hot stone” treatment where they press the stone on various parts of my body. I’m not really sure about this treatment’s benefits but it does feel pretty good.

Of course, the thing about street-side massage places is that the massage quality really depends on the masseuse you get. You can only hope that you don’t end up with a bad masseuse.

However, so far I’ve always had great experiences at Number One Massage. Here’s a tip: some of my best massages here were given by middle-aged impassive female masseuses.

Note that there are no private rooms and the massage beds are separated by curtains, so you do not get 100% privacy. It’s not an issue for me but ladies might feel slightly uncomfortable.

The prices are cheap, though inevitably they have increased slightly over the years.

Number One Massage

2. Chang Foot Massage

Second floor

Chang Foot Massage is a well-known street-side massage parlour located just steps away from Siam BTS Station. Don’t be confused by the name; it offers various other massage services and not just foot massage.

The wife and I usually come here for a quick Thai or foot massage after shopping in the bustling Siam district.

I have visited this massage parlour several times and find the standard of the Thai massages to be quite decent.

That said, I feel that the masseuses are not as good as the ones at Number One Massage, because they do not use as much strength in their rubs.

I only had one poor experience here before: during a one-hour foot massage it felt like the masseuse was just running her hands over my feet instead of massaging them.

I like the privacy that the massage parlour provides, by completely separating the massage beds with solid wooden partitions. There is also a small compartment beside the massage bed to store personal belongings.

3. Health Land

Health Land is a famous massage parlour chain in Bangkok that is very popular with tourists.

I have not been to this massage parlour personally, but from online reviews and what friends tell me, the Asoke branch has a very classy decor and offers decent massages at affordable prices.

Heath Land also offers a variety of spa treatments such as Couple Spa and Spa Jacuzzi packages.

4. Love Massage

Friendly staff

This is the first floor. The massage beds on the second floor offer more privacy

Love Massage is another street-side massage parlour in Pratunam. I went to check it out on the recommendation of a friend, and I was not disappointed.

Similar to Number One Massage, the masseuses give very strong rubs. I came here for a one-hour Thai massage after a long day of exploring Bangkok, and it felt really good to have the female masseuse giving my sore body a deep massage.

The second floor is quiet and peaceful, but the massage beds are separated by curtains only so you do not get complete privacy.

Notwithstanding the shop’s name, based on my own experience it is not a dodgy establishment with “happy endings”.

Love Massage
Directions: This elusive massage parlour is not listed on Google Maps. It is located in the Pratunam district near Sayamon Massage, close to the junction of Hatsadin Alley and Ratchaprarop Road. You can use my Google Map link and the picture of the storefront above to locate it.

Mid Range

5. Let’s Relax Spa (Siam Square One)

Let’s Relax Spa is a Thai spa empire with dozens of branches across Thailand. There are also overseas outlets in Cambodia, China, and Myanmar.

We like coming to this spa because it lets us enjoy a more upscale massage experience without breaking the bank.

The wife and I visited the branch at Siam Square One mall, and were duly impressed by the classy and serene ambience of the outlet.

We both went for the one-hour Aromatherapy Oil Massage (THB1150 on Klook), and were given a spacious couple room with shower.

Both our masseuses were well-groomed and professional, and we enjoyed the relaxing treatment very much. We were also served delicious mango sticky rice after the massage.

However, note that this branch is extremely popular so you will need to book your appointment at least one day in advance to secure a spot. Phone reservations are not accepted.

6. Let’s Relax Onsen and Spa (Thonglor)

Let’s Relax Onsen and Spa (Thonglor) is a Let’s Relax spa centre that is also home to a Japanese-style onsen.

The wife and I had a fantastic spa experience here. First, we went to the large onsen (gender-separated), which features five pools filled with mineral-rich spring water.

After that, I went for my two-hour Thai massage while the wife went for a two-hour Aroma Oil Massage and Scrub (separate rooms).

You can buy your onsen package from Klook to get a cheaper price (THB620 instead of THB700).

7. Breeze Spa (Amari Watergate Bangkok)

Breeze Spa is a luxury spa centre chain with various branches across Thailand and Asia. We visited the Amari Watergate Bangkok branch, which is located on the 8th floor beside the swimming pool.

I liked the soothing vibe of the spa, which is decorated with elegant furnishings and pastel colours to set up the perfect mood for a relaxing pampering session.

Before the spa, we went through a brief consultation to let the therapists understand our current physical and mental states.

The wife and I both chose the signature “Rejuvenated Mood Massage” (THB2200), an aromatherapy oil massage that is supposed to remove “toxins built up from stress, pollution and a busy life”. Our masseuses were very professional and we enjoyed the oil massage very much.

After that, we continued with the Honey Oatmeal Scrub (THB2000), which was a really enjoyable session too.

I would recommend Breeze Spa if you are looking for a luxurious spa experience that is not too exorbitantly priced.

8. Panpuri Wellness

Panpuri Wellness is a luxury spa centre at Gaysorn Village mall that offers an onsen, spa treatments, and fitness programmes.

The highlight of the spa is their modern public onsen, which costs THB750 for an all-day pass. However, you can buy the pass from Klook at a lower price of THB650.

The wife and I went for the “Panpuri Signature Pure Relaxation Ritual” couple package (THB9,900), a 3-hour spa treatment that offers private onsen, body scrub, body massage, and foot massage.

This was certainly a wonderful and luxurious pampering session, though it also came with a very expensive price tag.
