Greyhound Cafe (Bangkok) – Super Popular Cafe Serving Thai Classics and Western-Thai Fusion Dishes

During our recent holiday to Bangkok, the wife and I visited Greyhound Cafe. There are many online raves about this popular cafe and we were happy to finally check it out for ourselves.

Greyhound Cafe

Greyhound Cafe is a cafe chain in Bangkok that serves a variety of delicious Thai and Western-Thai fusion dishes.

“Greyhound” is actually a well-known Thai fashion brand that was founded in Bangkok in 1980. It went into the F&B business in 1997, opening the first Greyhound cafe outlet at Emporium shopping mall.

Since then, the food business has flourished and opened many branches across Thailand. The cafe has also expanded to Singapore, UK, Indonesia, China, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.

The wife and I finally got to check out this popular cafe at the CentralWorld shopping mall in Bangkok recently. We went at 12pm on a Saturday and the restaurant was relatively empty.

Menu

There were too many items on the menu so I didn’t take pictures of all the pages

The extensive menu offers a large variety of dishes, ranging from Thai classics to pastas to salads and many more.

The most popular item that almost everyone orders is the famous Greyhound Fried Chicken Wings (THB160).

We were a little overwhelmed by the number of choices and decided to just order the chicken wings and two pastas.

Beautiful Interior Design

I was impressed by the beautiful and elegant design of the restaurant, which is flanked on one side by floor to ceiling windows.

It exudes a modern and casual vibe, boasting whimsical chandeliers, black leather round banquettes, sleek furnishings, and walls lined with monochrome pictures and artworks.

Greyhound Fried Chicken Wings

Our favourite dish was definitely the signature Greyhound Fried Chicken Wings (THB160)!

These are basically chicken wings that are cut in half and marinated in fish sauce, before being deep fried.

Somehow, these little winglets were just so super delish! I loved the smooth yet crisp skin, and the soft chicken meat underneath was really tender and juicy.

It’s no wonder that this is one of the restaurant’s most popular dishes.

We have tried these fried wings at Another Hound Café before and they were great too.

Spaghetti with Crab Meat in Prawn Cream Sauce

The Spaghetti with Crab Meat in Prawn Cream Sauce (THB300) consists of spaghetti topped with shrimp roe and a generous portion of crab meat.

The noodles had great bite, but the highlight was the juicy and tasty crab meat. The shrimp roe added an additional salty flavour. The prawn sauce was decent but had a very slight fishy scent.

Spaghetti Olio with Bacon

The Spaghetti Olio with Bacon (THB280) consists of Thai style noodles served with dried chilli and a copious amount of bacon.

Personally I felt that the thin noodles were feisty, savoury and tasty. However, I suspect some people may not like its dry texture, especially if they are more used to Italian style pasta.

The bacons were sinful but delicious; you can’t really go wrong with bacons.

Conclusion

I visited Greyhound Cafe with high expectations, and I’m happy to say I was not disappointed. The food was delicious, and I especially loved the Greyhound Fried Chicken Wings. The ambience was great too, though some of the staff had rather stoic expressions. On the whole it was a very satisfying meal – it’s no wonder that this cafe is one of the most popular eateries in Bangkok.
