What Is Chocolate Ville?
Chocolate Ville is a beautiful open-air complex designed like an idyllic 19th century European town. It is a 30-minute drive from downtown Bangkok.
The complex is home to many charming European-style architecture and whimsical structures. Most people come here to have dinner and enjoy the scenic views.
Admission to Chocolate Ville is completely free. You just need to pay for the food if you’re eating here.
What To See At Chocolate Ville
Entering Chocolate Ville, it almost felt like we had been transported to a romantic European village, except for the fact that we were perspiring profusely in the hot Bangkok weather.
We saw various beautiful “town buildings” like a post office, bed and breakfast inn, barn, cafe, florist, and gas station.
However, these buildings are either sheltered dining joints or for display only.
The highlight of the complex is the “Chocolate Ville Tower”, which you can climb to the top to get a fantastic aerial view. We made the climb up and took some great pictures.
Other than European architecture, Chocolate Ville also features a variety of whimsical attractions such as life-sized toy soldiers, vintage American cars, an elegant domed gazebo, and London-style telephone booths.
I was impressed to see that Chocolate Ville has a water canal, complete with elegant bridges and even ducks and black swans!
As the sun began to set, the complex slowly got covered in a warm orange glow.
After it became completely dark, Chocolate Ville transformed into a dreamy place illuminated by fairy lights and lamps.
I’m glad we stayed till after sunset to enjoy this beautiful sight.
What To Eat at Chocolate Ville
At first I thought Chocolate Ville has several restaurants, but it turns out that all the food are served from one central kitchen.
Therefore, guests can choose to dine anywhere in the complex, such as along the river canal or in one of the pretty buildings.
The menu offers a dizzying variety of Thai food and international cuisine dishes. We browsed through pages upon pages of Thai, Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese and Western dishes.
There is also an extensive alcohol menu (available after 6pm) which includes a large selection of wines.
We decided to order the Ham and Mushroom Pizza (THB275) and French Fries with Salt (THB135). We also had a Mango Smoothie (THB150).
The food was surprisingly affordable and delicious for such a touristy venue. The staff were friendly, but did not really speak English. However, I was surprised to discover that they could speak Mandarin Chinese instead.
We chose to sit indoors because we started eating at 5pm and it was still pretty hot outside. The dining joint was not air-conditioned, but there was a fan nearby to keep us cool.
If you are dining at a later time, I recommend getting an outdoor table by the canal instead because the view is great.
How to Go Chocolate Ville
By Grab
The best way to go Chocolate Ville is by taking a Grab ride. It costs around THB300 if you depart from downtown Bangkok (Siam, Pratunam, etc).
The journey will take around 30 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. For us, we left Bangkok at 3.40pm and reached Chocolate Ville at 4.10pm.
However, our journey back took around 1 hour because we left at 6.45pm, which is the Bangkok rush hour.
By Shuttle Bus Package

Some Things To Take Note Of:
1. Chocolate Ville is really popular on weekends so you will need to book a few days in advance.
2. Reservation is not really necessary if you are going on a weekday, because there are not many customers. We went at 5pm on a Thursday without any reservation and there were plenty of empty tables everywhere. We got a seat immediately.
3. However, reservation is strongly recommended if you are going on a weekend, or with a large group.
4. The latest booking time is 5pm for weekends and 6pm for weekdays. Chocolate Ville will not accept any reservation later than those times.
5. Chocolate Ville will “cancel your reservation without notification” if you are late.
6. For some reason, there are many blogs stating that you need to make your reservation by leaving a dummy 5 Star review on Chocolate Ville’s Facebook page, furthermore stating in the review that you’ve “learned from friends that Chocolate Ville provides delicious food and nice scenery“. I was amused by this strange method and decided to just message them directly on Facebook instead, which worked without any issue.

Conclusion
The wife and I enjoyed our visit to Chocolate Ville in Bangkok, which is very different from other places to eat in Bangkok. It is a beautiful attraction with plenty of Instagrammable spots. The food is quite delicious too, and you get scenic views while dining. If you want to take nice pictures, take a Grab ride from Bangkok at 3.30pm and aim to arrive around the opening time of 4pm. We reached at 4.10pm on a weekday and the place was already quite crowded. However, since we’ve already taken the pictures, for our next visit we will probably just go for dinner directly so that we can avoid the hot afternoon weather.
