Mitsui Outlet Park Kisarazu – Huge Premium Outlet Mall 45 Minutes From Central Tokyo
During our holiday in Tokyo, the wife and I spent half a day shopping at Mitsui Outlet Park Kisarazu, a large premium outlet mall. Below is my full review of this resort style mall.
Mitsui Outlet Park Kisarazu
Mitsui Outlet Park Kisarazu is one of the largest premium outlet malls in Japan, with a total of 308 shops. It is located just across the bay from central Tokyo.
The beautiful mall exudes a seaside resort vibe with its open plazas and palm tree lined walkways. The shops offer daily discounts of 30% to 60%, and up to 80% during sales periods.
Other than Kisarazu, Mitsui Outlet Park also has various other branches across Japan, Kuala Lumpur and Taiwan. Click here to see the full list.
How To Go
Mitsui Outlet Park Kisarazu is a short 45-minute bus ride from Tokyo Station. You can refer to the screenshot above to see the journey duration from various locations in Tokyo. For more details, check out their official website.
Going From Tokyo Station
The wife and I took a direct bus from Tokyo Station to get to the mall. Below is how we did it:
– First, we took the train to Tokyo Station and went out from Yaesu Exit 2.
– After that, we walked for about one minute to the Expressway Bus Stop No 2.
– At the bus stop, we joined the “木更津方面 2” line, which already had a long queue.
– We managed to board the first bus that arrived at 9.25am. We paid JPY1,300 on the bus using our Suica IC Card. The Child Fare is JPY650.
– We reached the mall after a comfy 45-minute bus ride!
Mostly Japanese Brands
At first, the wife was really excited to sight several international luxury brands like Jimmy Choo, Kate Spade, Gucci, Ferragamo, Tommy Hilfiger, and Polo Ralph.
However, after browsing through various boutiques, she was quite disappointed with the offerings in the international brands shops. She only managed to buy a Tommy Hilfiger scarf.
On the other hand, there were significantly more Japanese boutiques. Therefore, if you decide to visit Mitsui Outlet Park Kisarazu, you might want to manage your expectations and focus on local brands instead.
Awesome Nike Factory Store
Love the large changing room!
There are various sportswear shops at the mall like Adidas, Asics, New Balance, Onitsuka Tiger, etc. However, our favourite was definitely the Nike Factory Store.
The wife and I spent quite a while shopping inside this huge and spacious store. I loved the large changing room which even has a long bench inside. In the end we bought a few trendy Japan exclusive T-shirts, and sweatpants for wearing on the plane.
Many Food Options
There are plenty of eateries in Mitsui Outlet Park Kisarazu so you do not have to worry about going hungry.
The large food court offers a variety of casual Japanese cuisines. There are also many stand-alone restaurants offering international cuisines.
We decided to have some Chinese food at Panda Express. We ordered a set meal (JPY990) with Fried Rice, Chow Mein, Orange Chicken, and Kung Pao Chicken. It was pretty delicious.
Useful Tips
1. The mall offers free amenities like wheelchairs, prams, and lockers.
2. Download this mall map to plan your shopping strategy.
3. The mall offers free wifi.
4. Remember to bring your passport to claim tax refunds.
5. I saw a large theme park beside the mall (“Kisarapia”) but it looked closed.
Conclusion
On the whole, I feel that Mitsui Outlet Park Kisarazu is a decent outlet mall that is easily accessible from central Tokyo; our bus ride from Tokyo Station took just 45 minutes. The service at the shops was generally quite good too.
However, we will probably not visit the mall again because it is more suitable for shoppers looking for Japanese or unique brands. There was a limited number of international luxury boutiques, and even their offerings were rather disappointing.
If you are looking for international brands, you should visit the Gotemba or Sano Premium Outlets. However, note that these two malls are around two times further away from central Tokyo than MOP Kisarazu.
