Eminent Reflexology 皇足轩 (Bukit Indah, Johor Bahru) – Fantastic Value For Money TCM Massage Centre
During our recent day trip to Bukit Indah in Johor Bahru, the wife and I had an enjoyable Chinese-style massage session at Eminent Reflexology (皇足轩). This is my full review of the massage centre.
Eminent Reflexology (皇足轩)
Eminent Reflexology (皇足轩) is a modern TCM massage centre located across the road from Aeon Bukit Indah.
I came across Eminent Reflexology when researching online for good massage parlours in Bukit Indah. I decided to give it a try after reading the many positive reviews.
Other than this Bukit Indah branch, there are also two other branches at Nusa Bestari and Sutera Utama respectively.
Pleasant Ambience and Great Service
Eminent Reflexology has a clean and bright lobby. The receptionist was very friendly and answered all our queries patiently.
There was no hard selling and she maintained her positive attitude even after we told her that we wanted to check out the surrounding massage centres first before making a decision.
Clean and Comfortable Rooms
The massage rooms look a little old but are clean. They are partitioned by curtains and are very private, but there is no soundproofing. Therefore, I could hear clearly what was going on in the adjacent room. This was not a big problem for me though.
If you are going for foot massages, you get to relax on comfy lounge chairs while watching movies on a large projector screen.
Price List (click to enlarge)
As you can tell from the price list above, Eminent Reflexology offers a wide range of services and treatments. These include body massage, aromatherapy massage, foot massage, cupping, body scrub, gua sha, acupuncture and ear candling.
I also saw some interesting services like ear scrapping, foot scrapping, and “Fire Therapy”. From some Instagram pictures I saw, this involved a ball of fire burning over your body or leg. I wasn’t brave enough to try this treatment.
Note that all prices are BEFORE the Sales and Service Tax (SST) of 6%.
Chinese Therapy Body Massage
Because it was our first time here, we decided to just go for a conservative Chinese Therapy Body Massage (RM73 before SST). We opted out of the massage oil because we did not want to feel sticky for the rest of the day.
My masseuse (number 6) was a petite PRC lady whose size belied her strength. Her rubs were really hard and it felt like she was literally kneading the sore knots out of my body. It felt super good!
I had informed her before the massage which parts of my body were aching the most, and she focused quite a bit on those particular areas. She also reminded me to inform her if I needed to reduce the massage intensity.
My whole session was very quiet – my masseuse did not speak to me or engage in chit chat with my wife’s masseuse at all.
The wife’s masseuse (number 8) was good too and gave very hard rubs as well. In addition, she also did some yoga-style stretches on the wife.
She tried to sell some additional services (gua sha, longer massage session, etc) during the first few minutes of the session, but stopped after the wife indicated that she was not interested.
Free Food
Nasi lemak and soon kueh
ice-cream
steamed meat buns
After the massage, we were served with warm water. To my pleasant surprise, Eminent Reflexlogy also offers plenty of free food (buffet style) such as steamed meat buns, nasi lemak, soon kueh (bamboo shoots dumplings), and even ice cream.
However, we did not eat anything here because we were still feeling full from our breakfast at Shun Fa Bak Kut Teh earlier.
Free Car Wash
Eminent Reflexology offers a free basic car wash for customers.
How To Book
You can either call to make an appointment or simply just walk in. We went at 1pm on a Saturday and managed to get slots immediately. This was unlike Thai Odyssey where we usually need to book at least one day in advance.
Price Comparison
Massage Parlour | 1 Hour Body Massage | 1 Hour Foot Massage |
Eminent Reflex (Malaysia) | $25.40 (RM77.40) | $20.20 (RM61.50) |
Thai Odyssey (Malaysia) | $41 (RM125.10) | $27 (RM82.70) |
Healing Touch (Singapore) | $58.85 | |
Imperial Spa (Singapore) | $69 | $53 |
Natureland (Singapore) | $69.55 (non-member) | $54.57 (non-member) |
Sabaai Sabaai (Singapore) | $75 | $60 |
As you can tell, Eminent Reflexology is really affordable compared to both Thai Odyssey and Singapore massage centres.
Conclusion
Both the wife and I enjoyed our body massages at Eminent Reflexology (皇足轩) in Bukit Indah very much. The staff were all very friendly, and the prices are extremely reasonable too.
Note that instead of names, the masseuses are identified by numbers, which I find to be rather amusing. Our masseuses were “6” and “8”, and I recommend requesting for them if you’re going down. For body massages, all the therapists are females.
Compared to the Thai-style massage at Thai Odyssey, the Chinese-style massage at Eminent Reflexology is significantly harder and more intense. Personally, I prefer this type of massage. However, if you cannot stand the pain, you can always just ask the masseuse to reduce her strength.
