Midwinter Green, Khao Yai – Charming Restaurant Designed Like Medieval European Castle
During our holiday in Khao Yai, my family and I visited Midwinter Green for dinner based on the recommendation of our helpful driver from Klook. I’m happy we went along with his suggestion because we had a great meal here! This is my full review of the restaurant.
Midwinter Green Restaurant
Midwinter Green is a beautiful restaurant in Khao Yai designed like a medieval European castle. It serves a wide variety of Thai and Western Food, including pizzas, pastas, pork knuckles, fish & chips, etc.
We arrived on a weekday at around 7pm and had to wait about 20 minutes for our big group of 10 to be seated.
Good Ambience and Service
The highlight of Midwinter Green is its wonderful ambience. We visited at night and dined outdoors in the cool weather, surrounded by stone castle walls and majestic towers.
The entire outdoor space was well-lit with lamps, and it looked really beautiful at night.
The staff were generally quite polite, but didn’t speak English very well. The food took quite a while to arrive, but I guess that was understandable because the restaurant was packed.
There was a live band but even though the music was nice, it was rather loud. Luckily we were seated quite far from the stage.
There is also a charming indoor dining area, which offers air-conditioning and a quieter dining environment. However, I feel that al fresco dining offers a much better experience.
If you just wish to drink alcohol, you can chill out at the indoor bar.
There are many photo ops around the complex for you to take pictures and capture fun memories.
Delicious Food
The extensive menu offers a good selection of Thai and International dishes. The Pork Knuckles is one of the most popular dishes. We did not try this dish but according to many online reviews it has crispy skin and really tender meat. Below are the dishes we ordered.
Before the start of the meal, we were served complimentary bread, which was a nice touch.
We started with the Crispy Sea Salt Fries (THB145), served with Crudite and thousand island dipping sauce. The thick-cut fries were served hot and tasted great with the sauces. However, personally I still prefer thin fries.
The Spaghetti Aglio with Garlic, Chili and Bacon (THB295) was a simple but delicious dish. The noodles were nicely al dente, and you can’t really go wrong with savoury bacon bits!
The Ham & Mushroom Pizza (THB490) was very satisfying too. The thin crust was crispy, the cheese had good stretch, and the ham and mushroom chunks were really tasty.
For dessert, we ordered the Molten Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream. The sweet fragrance of the velvety chocolate permeated throughout my mouth the instant I took a bite. The sweet vanilla ice cream completed my delightful experience.
Conclusion
But first let’s take a selfie
Midwinter Green is one of the most beautiful places in Khao Yai. It felt a little strange to see a majestic European-themed attraction in such a hot climate, but the place was really charming nonetheless.
I highly recommend visiting at night so that you can dine outdoors and enjoy the great vibe. If you visit in the afternoon it will be too hot.
The food was delicious but rather pricey. However, I feel it’s worth paying the premium for the wonderful ambience.
If you have time you can check out the marketplace here – the “Picnic Store” which sells freshly baked pastries, sweets and fresh local produce.
