Tai Seng Fish Soup 泰成魚湯 – 3rd Generation Fish Soup Stall At Taman Jurong Food Centre
I am currently on a quest to find the best stalls at Taman Jurong Food Centre, and recently I checked out Tai Seng Fish Soup (not to be confused with Thai Seng Fish Soup along Ubi Road).
Tai Seng Fish Soup 泰成魚湯
Tai Seng Fish Soup is a fish soup stall located on the third floor of Taman Jurong Food Centre. It is helmed by 3rd-generation hawker Nick Cheong.
The history of Tai Seng can be traced back to over 50 years ago, when Nick’s grandmother started a street food stall at Track 60, off Old Jurong Road.
Nick’s mother took over the business in 2005, and eventually handed it over to Nick.

Tai Seng offers the standard fish soup dishes: Sliced Fish Soup ($5/$6/$7), Fried Fish Soup ($5/$6/$7), Mixed Fish Soup ($5/$6/$8), and Fish Head Soup ($5/$6/$7).
You can pair your fish soup with rice, thick bee hoon, thin bee hoon, ee mee, mee swa, or porridge. There is no additional charge for these carb items.
Add-ons include fried egg floss ($0.50), egg ($0.50), and fish roe / fish milt ($1).
Sliced Fish Soup
I ordered the Sliced Fish Soup ($5) with rice.
First, the good points. The dish was quite sumptuous, containing fried egg floss, tomato, tofu, vegetables, and a generous amount of fish slices.
I enjoyed drinking the soup which was tasty, robust and very addictive.
Unfortunately, the fish slices failed to impress. While they were quite tender, there was a slight fishy odour.
I also found it a little tedious to chew on the fried egg floss as they were quite tough.
The chilli sauce was a little too sour for my liking, but that’s just my personal taste.
Conclusion
Tai Seng serves decent fish soup, but if they can improve on the quality of their fish it would definitely help them to stand out more.
