AHTTI 아띠식당 – Affordable Korean Fried Chicken and Beer Towers For Your Ultimate Chimaek Experience

After watching many K-dramas recently, it was nice to indulge in some Korean fried chicken at AHTTI 아띠식당!

Ahtti is a new Korean casual dining restaurant in Jurong that specialises in Korean Fried chicken.

They are located on the second floor of Vision Exchange, a 25-storey office building near Jurong East MRT Station. There are various other eateries on this floor too.

The restaurant opened in January this year. I went down last Sunday at around 2pm, and was surprised to see quite a number of customers at this relatively secluded bistro.

The no-frills restaurant exudes an authentic Korean vibe. The indoor section was playing catchy Korean music, while the outdoor dining area offered a more peaceful dining experience – though you may see a few wild birds looking for leftover food on the tables.

Service was great. The staff were polite and attentive, and we were served complimentary ice-cold barley tea. The food arrived fast too.

Menu

Korean Fried Chicken – this is the restaurant’s main item. Their KFC comes in three forms: Boneless, Wings / Drumettes, and Whole Piece.

Go for the Boneless version for a more satisfying and fuss free experience.

There are six flavours available: Original, Yangnyeom, Ganjang, Chilli Padi, Honey Butter, and Hotdak (most spicy).

I tried the Original and Yangnyeom flavours – both were good but I preferred the latter.

You can order 8 piece ($18 to $20) or 16 piece portions ($33 to $35).

Korean Food – Other than KFC, the menu also offers a good variety of Korean dishes like Seafood Soft Tofu Soup ($12), Stir Fried Pork Belly ($11), Bibimbap ($12), Seafood Korean Pancake ($14), Army Stew ($27/$38), and more.

Lunch Special – If you go during lunch, you get to enjoy discounted prices and affordable set lunches. See menu above.

Drinks – the alcohol menu offers a selection of Beer, Soju, and Beer Towers for your chimaek experience.

Original Korean Fried Chicken

I ordered the 8pc Original ($18) – wings and drumettes version. The fried batter looked really tantalising and crispy! True to form, it produced a lovely crunch as I bit into it.

The chicken meat was fried to perfection with a tender and juicy texture. On the whole, this KFC was very satisfying, though I wished it had a stronger savoury taste. I also felt slightly jelak as I was finishing up the last few pieces.

Yangnyeom Korean Fried Chicken

The 8pc Yangnyeom ($19), boneless version, were plump chunks of fried chicken encased in a delightful orange-red batter. This was my preferred flavour of the two.

It offered a lovely crunch along with a sweet and slightly spicy flavour from the marinade. The taste was very addictive and I found myself reaching for piece after piece.

To my surprise, I actually preferred this boneless version over the wings and drumettes version – turns out that it’s more satisfying to savour boneless chunks of KFC goodness.

Seafood Soft Tofu Soup

The Seafood Sofu Tofu Soup ($12) was rich and savoury with a strong feisty kick. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. It was the perfect dish for a cold rainy day!

Korean Side Dishes

I like that the restaurant served complimentary Korean side dishes (pickled radish, kimchi, fish cake and seaweed) before the meal. They were surprisingly tasty and made for great appetizers.

Conclusion

Ahtti 아띠식당 offers satisfying Korean Fried Chicken and authentic Korean dishes at affordable prices. Ambience is good, and service is sincere. It is the perfect place to indulge in chimaek while discussing your favourite Korean dramas with friends. I will be back soon to check out their other KFC flavours! Oh, and they do not charge GST.
