Clifford Pier Heritage Dim Sum Brunch – Savour Classic Local Delicacies At The Fullerton Bay Hotel

Dining at The Fullerton Bay Hotel always feels like a grand affair due to the hotel’s splendour, lavish furnishings, and heritage. I went to check out the Clifford Pier Heritage Dim Sum Brunch recently and this is my full review of the experience.

The Clifford Pier Heritage Dim Sum Brunch is available on weekends and public holidays, between 12pm and 3pm. It costs $58++ per adult and $27++ per child (aged 6 to 11).

It is an ala carte style buffet where you order manually from the staff and they will serve the dishes to your table.

Personally, I feel it would be more convenient if guests could use a QR code ordering system instead of manually ordering from the staff.

When settling the bill, I got a 20% discount on the spot by signing up for the free I Prefer membership.

This was a pleasant surprise, and there wasn’t any catch. The membership entitles me to 20% off at the other Fullerton Bay Hotel restaurants too.

The staff will provide you with the membership website link during your meal, so you do not have to sign up in advance.

Lovely Ambience

I always enjoy dining at Clifford Pier because it has a lovely ambience. The high arched ceiling, large vintage chandeliers, and elegant furnishings create a wonderful dining environment for guests.

I usually request for the sofa seat when making reservations because it is more comfy and has plush cushions too.

During my recent visit, the staff were friendly and polite, and it was quite easy to get their attention to order food.

I went down at 12pm and the restaurant was still pretty empty. As more diners started coming from around 1pm onwards, my orders came slightly slower.

Therefore, I recommend going early for the best dining experience.

Salads

From left: Thai-Style Seafood and Glass Noodles Salad, Marinated Jelly Fish and Octopus Salad with Cucumber, Szechuan Chicken Salad with Peanut and Cucumber

The menu offers delicious Asian-style salads that are refreshing with a feisty kick – perfect for starting off the buffet.

Bamboo Steamed Basket Dim Sum

There is a small selection of classic dim sum items such as Shrimp Dumplings, Siew Mai with Crab Roe, Pork Ribs in Fermented Black Bean Sauce, etc.

My favourite dim sum was the “Lor Mai Kai”, Glutinous Rice with Chicken. It was very fragrant with just the right amount of starchiness.

The Braised Chicken Feet in Oyster Sauce was pretty satisfying too.

Interestingly, the dim sums are served from a push cart which comes around every ten to fifteen minutes or so.

But instead of an old lady or uncle pushing the cart, it is a hotel staff dressed in a nifty suit.

Local Delicacies

The Chicken Satay was tender and tasty, similar to those you would find at a good satay stall in a hawker centre.

The Nyonya Popiah & Kueh Pie Tee were served fresh and warm. They are one of my favourite items of the buffet.

The Fish Maw Crab Meat Soup is tasty with a luscious texture.

The Tiger Prawn Laksa was creamy, feisty and addictive – I had two servings of this dish!

The Iconic Chilli Crab Bao is fried Chinese bun served with chilli crab gravy. This was delicious and I had to stop myself from eating more to save space for the other food.

I usually have reservations about chicken rice served in hotels, but the Signature Hainanese Chicken Rice was surprisingly decent.

The Crispy Shrimp Dumplings with Mayonnaise were delicious and armed with a satisfying crunch. The Pan-Fried Seafood in Bean Curd Skin was crispy and tasty too.

The Singapore Fruit Rojak was crunchy with a rich sweet-tangy taste.

The Wok-Fried Carrot Cake with Egg, Prawns and Dark Sweet Sauce is worth a try.

The Beef Satay was the only disappointing dish; it was tough and unappetising. The Indian Roti Prata with Fish Curry were not fantastic but still quite palatable.

Desserts

The Mao Shan Wang Durian Creme Brulee was my favourite dessert! I enjoyed its unique combination of pungent durian aroma and smoky caramelised sweetness.

They also have Mango Panna Cotta with Pomelo.

The Ang Ku Kueh, Rainbow Lapis, Ondeh Ondeh were pleasant treats to end the buffet on a sweet note.

Conclusion

Overall, the Clifford Pier Heritage Dim Sum Brunch was of decent quality with some delicious items, but the main highlight for me was the wonderful ambience and great service. This is the perfect place to chill out with family and friends on the weekends.
