VUE – Rooftop Restaurant & Bar Offers Amazing City Views, Excellent Fusion Food, and Wonderful Service

VUE is a classy restaurant-bar that offers an eclectic fusion of East and West cuisines. It is perched atop OUE Bayfront, offering panoramic views of Marina Bay and the Central Business District. I had a wonderful meal here recently and this is my full review of the restaurant.

Vue opened in October last year, taking its name from the French word for “view”.

The kitchen is helmed by Chef Sam Chin who has over 10 years of culinary experience. Head sommelier Joel Lim is responsible for the exceptional wine cellar of over 1,000 bottles.

The dedicated lift at the building lobby provided direct access to the rooftop restaurant on the 19th floor.

After exiting the lift, I was greeted with a classy, dimly-lit hallway lined with an exquisite selection of wines.

I walked towards  the main dining hall which exudes a sophisticated vibe with its high arched copper ceilings, elegant furnishings, and parquet flooring.

Diners get to enjoy amazing views of Singapore’s skyline through the floor-to-ceiling windows. You can also book a private dining room that accommodates up to 12 persons.

The outdoor bar is branded as Singapore’s first rooftop spritz bar. Enjoy complimentary canapés with your spritz cocktails between 5pm and 7pm.

This is a great place to chill out with some drinks while enjoying unobstructed views of the Marina Bay area.

The washrooms were luxurious too!

The well-trained staff were polite and attentive, providing excellent service throughout our meal. They even explained the characteristics and ingredients of each dish when serving it to us.

Menu

The menu offers an eclectic range of fusion food, ranging from Freshly Shucked Oysters ($12 per pc) to Sea Urchin Risotto ($68) to Wagyu Cheeseburger ($56) to A5 Emperor ‘Kokuou’ Wagyu Steak (from $138).

Their binchotan-grilled seafood and meat specialities, in particular, are one of the highlights of the menu.

For lunch, they offer set course meals that come with dessert.

You can refer to Vue’s online menu for their full list of dishes.

The wife and I both ordered the weekday three-course set lunch ($58++), and below are the dishes we tried.

Three Course Set Lunch 1

Before the meal, we were served some free bread along with olive oil and balsamic vinegar dip.

The Grilled Argentinian Red Shrimp Salad consists of shrimps, cherry tomatoes, sumac raw onions, saffron vinegar dressing and toasted almonds.

The shrimps were fresh and briny, while the salad was tangy and refreshing. This was the perfect starter.

The Grilled King Salmon comes with asparagus, clams, mashed potatoes, and morel & clam beurre blanc.

The salmon was grilled to perfection, boasting wonderfully crispy skin and lovely tender meat. The beurre blanc served as the perfect sauce with its velvety texture, savoury flavour, and light tangy aftertaste.

I ended my meal with the French Acacia Honey Cake, made from acacia honey sponge, Dulce de Leche honey cream, oats tuile, and yogurt sorbet.

The cake was fluffy and delicately sweet, going well with the luscious honey cream.

Three Course Set Lunch 2

The Norwegian Red King Crab Toast comes with avocado, cucumber, shallot, yuzu mayonnaise, and grilled multi-grain toast.

This was another delicious starter. It was nice to enjoy the varied flavours of the refreshing yuzu mayonnaise, chunks of fresh crab meat, and toasted bread in my mouth.

The Grilled Spanish Octopus comes with roasted tomatoes, duck-fat potatoes, and tomato & chipotle sauce.

The grilled octopus had a pleasant smokiness, and I loved how fresh and chewy it felt in my mouth. Another well-executed dish by Vue!

The Basque-Style Burnt Cheesecake is trending now, so I was not surprised to find it on Vue’s menu. Their version comes with fresh berries and homemade berries jam.

It was rich and creamy, with a lovely umami taste and a subtle charred aroma. If you are having difficulty choosing between this dessert or the French Acacia Honey Cake, I say just go for both!

Conclusion

Overall, Vue is a beautiful rooftop restaurant-bar that offers excellent food, gorgeous city views, and wonderful service. I like that it is classy without being overly formal and imposing. This is the perfect place for a date or to chill out with some drinks after work. Remember to make reservations before going down!
