Luke’s Lobster Opens At Shaw House In Orchard Road – Is It Worth The Hype?
Many Singaporeans (myself included) were really excited when we heard that Luke’s Lobster was going to open at Shaw House in September this year. However, I knew that the queue was going to be crazy initially due to the hype, so I decided to wait for a while before going down.
Luke’s Lobster is a US franchise famous for their lobster rolls. Interestingly, they are very popular in Tokyo too. I have checked out both the US and Tokyo versions before so I was curious to see how the Singapore branch would compare.
Luke’s Lobster SG is located on the first floor of Shaw House. When I went down last Wednesday at 3pm, there was no queue at all and I only had to wait about five minutes for a table.
Menu
The simple menu offers Lobster Roll ($25.50), Crab Roll ($23.50), and Shrimp Roll ($21.50).
The most popular item is of course the lobster roll, which uses lobsters from Maine, USA.
To try all three flavours, go for the Luke’s Trio ($33.50).
Alcohol lovers will be happy to know that beer and wine are available too.
Lobster Roll
I ordered the Lobster Roll ($25.50), which came with generous chunks of juicy-looking lobster meat sandwiched in a toasted bun.
The lobster chunks were fresh and juicy with a nice briny taste, but I wished the bun was warmer. Personally I would have preferred to enjoy the tasty lobster meat with a hot toasted bun.
Conclusion
My verdict? My lobster roll from Luke’s Lobster was definitely quite tasty, though it didn’t blow me away. However, it is worth a try if you haven’t eaten it before. If you are wondering, the price of the lobster roll here is similar to the prices in New York (USD17 / SGD24) and Tokyo (¥1706 / SGD22).
