Beiler’s Doughnuts is a popular doughnut shop run by the Beiler family. The business started in 1985, and since then local Philadelphians has enjoyed the deliciousness of Amish baking. The doughnuts are handmade using a secret family recipe with quality ingredients. The most popular flavours include the Apple Fritter, Blueberry Fritter, and Harvest Apple, though you can’t really go wrong with any of the flavours here.

2. Dinic’s

Dinic’s is famous for its delicious “Roast Pork Sandwich”, which some has claimed to be even better than the iconic Philly cheesesteak. Therefore, I was excited to check out my Roast Pork Sandwich ($9.25) with roasted pepper ($1). The impression was one of warm savoury flavours of succulent pork meat complemented perfectly by soft bread and spicy pepper. I revelled in this delicious taste in my mouth for a while, chewing slowly and deliberately, before quickly taking another bite. It’s no wonder that Dinic’s was voted as Travel Channel’s “Best Sandwich in America” in 2012. In conclusion, I really enjoyed the sandwich, though I wouldn’t say it’s “better” than the Philly cheesesteak. Both are delicious, just in different ways!

3. Miller’s Twist

Miller’s Twist specialises in soft and tender pretzels, which differ from the chewy pretzels that Philly is known for. Nonetheless, these are delicious too, and we really enjoyed our pretzel-wrapped hot dogs. The pretzels were fresh and crispy on the outside, with a soft and warm interior. I highly recommend this as a tasty snack while exploring Reading Terminal Market.

It was interesting to see Sang Kee Peking Duck House at Reading Terminal Market – a Chinese food joint surrounded by American eateries. Popular dishes include the Roast Duck and Roast Pork combo served with rice, as well as the Wonton Noodle Soup. The main restaurant is located in Chinatown.

5. Termini Bros Bakery

Termini Brothers Bakery is a well-established bakery that began way back in 1921. It is known for its popular cannoli. I ordered one cannoli ($4) to see if the hype was real. It had a crisp crust with luscious ricotta and delicious chocolate chip fillings on the inside. I enjoyed this sinfully sweet but delicious dessert.
