Leng Huat Fishball Noodle Laksa – Old School Noodles Stall At Taman Jurong Food Centre Opens Till 11pm
Leng Huat Fishball Noodle Laksa is an old school fishball noodle stall located on the second floor of Taman Jurong Food Centre. It closes late at 11pm, making it a good place to get your late night noodles fix.
This is one of the older stalls here. It was originally from a former smaller hawker centre which closed down and merged with the current one.
Menu
Their fishball noodles comes in two sizes: small ($3) and large ($4). You can choose the dry or soup version.
They also sell laksa, which comes in three sizes: small ($3), medium ($3.50) and large ($4). The $3 bowl does not contain cockles.
The noodles available are: mee sua, bee hoon, thick bee hoon, kway teow, you mian, mee pok, and yellow noodles.
Fishball Noodles
I ordered the $4 fishball noodle soup with yellow noodles. It came with four fishballs, several slices of fishcake, a few pieces of sliced pork, and lettuce.
The noodles were smooth with a nice bite, and the soup was quite tasty. The minced meat bits gave the soup a nice oily aftertaste.
I enjoyed eating the fishballs which were chewy and bouncy. The sliced pork and fishcakes were fresh and tender too.
On the whole, while this bowl of noodles soup was not outstandingly delicious, it had a homely taste that evoked a sense of nostalgia.
Conclusion
Leng Huat Fishball Noodle Laksa serves up a decent bowl of fishball noodles, but I felt that it lacked a certain oomph. For really satisfying fishball noodles, I recommend Ng Kee Teochew Fish Ball Kuay Teow Mee, located on the same floor. However, Leng Huat opens till late, while most other noodle stalls in the hawker centre close by late afternoon. Therefore, it is a good place to visit when you’re having late night noodles cravings.
